Keiken-Ryu Ju-Jitsu

Keiken-Ryu Ju-Jitsu is a modern self-defense-oriented Ju-Jitsu style and a complete system with own belt ranking curriculum. It is based on the unique and individual experience (keiken), creativity and innovation of Frank Stolzenburg, the founder of Keiken-Ryu Ju-Jitsu. It is a reflection of many years experience and offers a new perspective. The style and system of Keiken-Ryu Ju-Jitsu is rooted in traditional Ju-Jitsu and is also influenced by other martial arts, particularly with regard to Filipino Martial Arts.

Shihan StolzenburgFrank Stolzenburg is a Ju Jitsu black belt and has been doing martial arts since 1984. He is also a black belt in German Ju-Jutsu, Kempo Karate, Kyusho Jitsu, Kali Silat Evolution, Filipino Fighting Arts and in addition studied Aikido, Judo, Kickboxing and other martial arts.

He has a graduate engineer degree for computer and economy science, which may help him to explain his systematic approach to learning and teaching Ju Jitsu and Filipino Martial Arts. He leads the local training groups, national courses, seminars and workshops on the subject of self defence for young people, women, children and adults.

Everyone who trains Keiken-Ryu Ju-Jitsu at our locations has their own personal goals. Their diversity is reflective of the experience - they are normal people of all ages, ethnicities and physical capabilities. They're all part of a friendly, welcoming community who will shake the hand of anyone who commits themselves to learning the art of Ju-Jitsu and self-defense. When we train, we train among friends. And everyone is just as interested in helping their fellow students achieve their goals as they are in pursuing their own.

We believe that everyone can train in Keiken-Ryu Ju-Jitsu in some capacity, even if they can't do every part of a regular class or every part of our usual curriculum. People can find ways to train around injuries or physical disabilities if they are motivated and willing to accept that it might take special efforts and adjustments.

The instructors and students of Keiken-Ryu Ju-Jitsu are all dedicated to cultivating this positive, mutually supportive atmosphere, to better ourselves and the greater community.

Keiken-Ryu Ju-Jitsu curriculum

The adult belt system of Keiken-Ryu Ju-Jitsu is as follows: white, yellow, orange, green, blue, brown and black belt. The time taken between belts obviously depends on your martial arts experience, where you train and who you train with. All legitimate rank must be obtained in person and given by a certified KEIKEN KAI Black Belt instructor. During classification seminars we are able to recognize ranks from students who have achieved the same rank in a similar martial art style or system.
